The minimum days required for this route is five, although the probability of successfully reaching the top in that time period is quite low. Spending an extra acclimatization day on the mountain is highly recommended when climbing Kilimanjaro using the Marangu route.
Kilimanjaro Machame Route is the second most popular route, 26 km long, and it is considered the most beautiful route up Kilimanjaro.
This route has a moderate slope, making it less difficult to climb. It is the most popular way up Mountain Kilimanjaro and is the only route with an emergency evacuation service.
The Kilimanjaro Rongai Route approaches the mountain from the north, not far from the Kenyan border. The area retains a sense of untouched wilderness lost on the crowded Marangu and Machame trails.
The Lemosho route is one of the newer routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. The route begins in the west and rather than simply intersecting Shira Plateau (like Machame), Lemosho crosses it from Shira Ridge to Shira Camp.
